PAGASA: 'Goring' exits PHL but to continue enhancing monsoon
Tropical depression "Goring" exited Philippine territory before noon Sunday, but the threat of heavy rains that can trigger flash floods and landslides in some parts of the country remains. In its 11 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Goring is moving west-northwest at 10 kph. As of 10 a.m., it said Goring was 460 km north of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. By Monday morning it is expected to be 600 km north-northwest of Basco, Batanes or 170 km northwest of Taipei, Taiwan. "However, Goring will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring occasional rains in Luzon and Visayas becoming frequent over the western section which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," PAGASA said. Meanwhile, PAGASA said the other Low Pressure Area (LPA) East of Mindanao has dissipated, but a report by radio dzBB's Glen Juego said rains are still likely until Tuesday or Wednesday. â LBG, GMA News
