Two killed in predawn smashup in Quezon City
At least two people were reported killed in a four-vehicle smashup on Epifanio delos Santos Avenue in Quezon City before dawn Saturday. The vehicles involved were two buses, a trailer truck, and a van, according to a report on dzBB radio. A sketchy initial investigation showed one of the buses stopped after the van clipped its side mirror. This prompted the drivers of both vehicles to stop at the portion of EDSA near Muñoz to discuss the matter. But as the two drivers were talking, a trailer truck driven by one Marlon Calanawan hit the bus, pinning the fatalities between the bus and another passenger bus. The fatalities were initially identified as Jun Salazar and Mario Mahusay, while Calanawan was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. â LBG, GMA News
