The death toll from Typhoons Pedring (Nesat) and Quiel (Nalgae) rose further to 82 as of early Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In separate 6 a.m. updates, the NDRRMC said Pedring had caused 71 deaths, while Quiel claimed 11 deaths. At least 25 remained missing and 66 were injured in the wake of Pedring while one remained missing and 12 were injured due to Quiel, it added. Pedring affected 635,405 families or 2,957,613 people in 3,442 villages in 308 towns and 42 cities in 35 provinces, while Quiel affected 205,058 families or 1,015,069 people in 1,490 villages in 117 towns in 117 towns and nine cities in 17 provinces. Both cyclones caused some P9,551,972,928.81 in damage to property, the NDRRMC said. It said the damage to property from Pedring remained at P9,436,897,401, including P1,344,198,382.81 in infrastructure and P8,092,699,018.19 in agriculture. Damage to property caused by Quiel remained at P115,075,527.81, it added. Areas declared under a state of calamity in the wake of the two cyclones include five towns, eight cities and four provinces. 13 in Cordillera UN help sought for Bulacan Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said the Department of Health has requested the United Nations World Food Program for tents, generators and water tanks for flooded areas. It said the DOH particularly asked for three tents, two power generators and four water tanks to be distributed to the most affected areas in Central Luzon:
