Mayor not joining Zuce, says Cruz
Michael Angelo Zuce's decision to work for the government may eventually backfire on him as he will have lost his credibility, Lingayen-Dagupan archbishop Oscar Cruz said Tuesday. Cruz also said the "remaining" witness, former jueteng operator Wilfredo "Boy" Mayor, has not "defected" and remains in the anti-jueteng crusade. "It's not okay for me but neither is it okay for him. He might be perceived as someone without principle, as having been bought, as one less possible witness in the forthcoming impeachment in case jueteng II is made a cause," Cruz said in his web log. But he said Zuce was never really a part of the anti-jueteng crusade, adding Zuce was more of a witness in the Senate to testify how jueteng money was used for the 2004 national elections. Cruz reiterated he understands Zuce because Zuce felt he was no longer supported by those who "used" him, but added he finds it hard to believe Zuce moved on his own. "It is always more convenient to side with those in power and influence," he said, adding that, "the present administration is not unknown for buying fidelities and paying for favors." As for Mayor, Cruz said he has received "so many offers of money and so many threats," but Mayor remains firm and will remain with the anti-gambling crusade.-GMANews.TV
