Court allows Arroyo to stay longer in VMMC
Former President and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been allowed by a Pasay court to stay longer at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) to further recuperate from her bone mineral disorder. A GMA News Flash Report on Thursday said the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 112 decided not to order Mrs. Arroyo’s transfer to an ordinary detention cell after doctors from the public hospital said she needs more time to recover for her illness. The court further ordered the VMMC management to submit a list of their expenses related to Mrs. Arroyo so that it could decide whether or not to allow her treatment outside the hospital, the report said. Mrs. Arroyo is currently facing a poll sabotage case before the Pasay court for her alleged involvement in anomalies during the 2007 midterm elections. She has been staying at the VMMC since Dec. 9 last year, after she was moved there from the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City. She had been staying at the SLMC since Nov. 15 when she was barred from leaving the country. She was arrested Nov. 18 after the court issued a warrant for her arrest on charges of electoral sabotage. - Andreo C. Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
