PAGASA: Hottest time of day between 2 and 5 p.m.
With the weather getting hotter this summer, Filipinos may want to avoid exposure to direct sunlight, state weather forecasters said Monday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said this is the time the sun is at its fiercest.
"Ang peak time 2 to 3 p.m. Usually ang (tindi ng init) mag-uumpisa 12 hanggang 5 p.m.," PAGASA forecaster Buddy Javier said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He also said that while the forecast high temperature for Metro Manila stands at 33 degrees Celsius, the temperature may go higher as summer progresses.
Javier said it is possible the temperature may even go up to 38 degrees—higher than the human body's temperature of 37 degrees—during this summer.
"Posible kasi umpisa ng March umaabot ng 33 to 34 (degrees Celsius)," he said.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said a wind convergence or the meeting of winds from different directions may bring rain to Visayas and Mindanao.
"Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin.
Moderate to strong winds from the northeast to east will prevail over southern Luzon and Visayas, and from the northeast and east over Mindanao.
The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to southeast, resulting in slight to moderate seas. –KG, GMA News
