President Benigno Aquino III has brushed aside the new form of protest action militants dubbed as “Noynoying,” an apparent reference to his alleged inaction against surging oil prices.   “Hindi kailangang pansinin. You know, honestly, ‘di ba, papaano mo ipapakita sa ayaw tumingin? Paano mo iparirinig sa ayaw makinig? Kung masaya silang ginagawa nila ‘yun, nasa kanila yon,” Aquino told reporters Sunday night.   Noynoying, which is derived from Aquino’s nickname “Noynoy,” is being done by lying on the ground, looking bored and sometimes yawning. Protesters first demonstrated it during the transport caravan held Thursday last week.   Aquino said he has all the statistics showing the developments in the country ever since he assumed the presidency in July 2010. He added that a look in different parts of Metro Manila would show construction of new buildings. He also noted the number of mall goers who really do shopping against those who are just looking around. Stock market records   Aquino said that in his 21 months in office, the stock market was able to break its record 21 times. And, you know, when we started out, given the enormity of the problems akala namin two years minimum before you start sensing things are changing. But I think it's happening,” he said.   He reiterated that many of the factors affecting the price of oil are beyond the government’s control.   Despite this, he said his administration is doing everything to ease the effect of oil price hikes such as the Pantawid Pasada subsidy program and providing substantial discount on tires, batteries and spare part purchases.   Aquino said they are also addressing the problem about “kotong” cops or extortion activities of some erring police officers. — KBK, GMA News
