With the Holy Week exodus expected to start peaking this weekend, the Department of Public Works and Highways and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will hold roadside assistance programs for motorists.
DPWH’s Lakbay Alalay program will be reactivated from 6 a.m. of March 31 to noon of April 10, upon orders of DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson.
The program will have composite teams from the DPWH, Land Transportation Office, Philippine National Police and local government officials providing assistance to motorists along national roads during this period, the DPWH said.
Singson also directed that legible informational and directional signs and reflectorized pavement markings on national roads be installed to help motorists in their travel.
Since road works are currently being done as the government agency takes advantage of the dry summer weather, DPWH regional directors and district engineers were also instructed to ensure that proper signage and warning signs.
“Once our rehabilitation works on national roads are completed, the situation will certainly improve,” Singson said.
Also, he appealed to the public to bear with the inconveniences caused by the road improvement activities.
The DPWH advised motorists to use alternate routes, and ordered the concerned field offices to provide sufficient traffic advisories.
