DOH placed on code white alert for Holy Week


The Department of Health is now on Code White alert to respond to possible emergencies during the Holy Week.
 
Government hospitals stocked up on medicines and intravenous (IV) fluids, and readied their emergency rooms, radio dzBB reported Wednesday.
 
Under Code White alert, government hospitals are to make sure they can respond to emergencies, including those related to the ongoing exodus to the provinces.
 
Doctors and nurses were readied to deal with "common" emergencies including dehydration and diarrhea.
 
Laboratory services such as x-ray are also to be always available, the report said.
 
The yearly Holy Week exodus to the provinces was expected to peak starting Wednesday as Filipinos rushed home to their provinces to spend the Holy Week.
 
Many Filipinos were to spend an extended holiday in the provinces as Araw ng Kagitingan falls on the Monday after Easter. –KG, GMA News
