PNR: Floods delay another PNR train trip
Floodwaters again delayed a Philippine National Railways train trip from Bicol to Manila early Sunday, when a Manila-bound train from Bicol stopped in Alabang due to floods. But the PNR, in a series of posts on its Twitter account, said the problem was resolved shortly after 7 a.m., when the tracks became passable again. The PNR said that as of 6:45 a.m., a Bicol Express train that left Naga in Bicol Saturday night stopped at Alabang. "Can't proceed (to) Manila. Tracks in Cupang, Muntinlupa (are) flooded again," it said. Last week, the PNR had been forced to cancel several trips because of floods brought by heavy rain caused by an enhanced monsoon. The weather in Metro Manila and nearby provinces improved only after tropical cyclone "Haikui," which enhanced the southwest monsoon, made landfall over China. As of 7 a.m., the PNR said about 50 Bicol Express passengers were in Alabang to be transferred by bus to Sucat so they can take a commuter train to Tutuban in Manila. But as of 7:15 a.m., the PNR said it canceled the bus transfers of Bicol Express passengers from Alabang to Sucat. "Tracks (are) now passable. (The) train (is) proceeding to Tutuban," it said. — LBG, GMA News
