Robredo surprises daughters with Maroon 5 tickets
Before his tragic death in a plane crash in August, Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo had planned a surprise gift for his daughters — tickets to the Sept. 18 concert of American pop rock band Maroon 5. “It turned out July pa pala, kinukulit ng Dad ko ‘yung staff niya for tickets. So parang, he didn’t even know kung ano ‘yung Maroon 5,” said Aika Robredo in an interview on GMA News TV’s “News to Go” on Wednesday. “This is just one of the many surprises… parang mga pahabol na surprises,” she added. Aika and her sister Tricia received the tickets from one of their father’s staff days before the concert, according to the report by JP Soriano. Aika said she remembers mentioning to their father how they wanted to watch the concert, which was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, a few months before his death. Aika, Robredo’s eldest daughter, said they still text their father’s cellphone number when they are missing him. “We always talk to him. We still text him everyday, I think even my sisters everyday pa rin,” she said. Meanwhile, Aika recently represented her father in receiving the Dangal ng Lahi Award conferred to him. “My mom was supposed to accept it pero kasi marami rin siyang engagements sa Naga ngayon, so I had to take her place,” she said. “We realized afterwards na ang dami niya pala talagang kaibigan, ang daming nagmamahal sa iyo, sa dad mo, na even without him, hindi rin kayo pinapabayaan,” Aika added. - Rouchelle Dinglasan/KBK, GMA News
