Ex-Robredo aide visits crash site 2 months after tragedy
A former aide of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo visited over the weekend the site of the plane crash off Masbate province that claimed the lives of his boss and two plane pilots.
Senior Inspector June Abrazado became emotional at times when he went to the part of the waters off Masbate where a Piper Seneca plane carrying him, Robredo and two pilots crashed last Aug. 18, radio dzBB reported Monday.
At the time of the tragedy, Robredo's group were en route from Cebu to Robredo's home province of Masbate. Abrazado was the lone survivor.
During his visit to the crash site, Abrazado offered flowers and prayers for the memory of Robredo and the two pilots.
He also visited a fisherman who rescued him from the plane shortly after the plane crashed into the water.
Shortly after the tragedy, Abrazado had been criticized for not doing enough to save his boss after the plane crashed.
However, Robredo's widow Leonor said they have understood him, and hold no ill will against him. Last week, the Civial Aviation Authority of the Philippines said it would be releasing their report on the tragedy anytime this week. — RSJ, GMA News
