NDRRMC: Damage to property from 'Ofel' jumps to P155.134M

The damage to property caused by Tropical Storm Ofel (Son-Tinh) jumped to more than P155 million as of Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said that of the P155,134,787.50 in damage, P65,910,000 involved infrastructure and P89,224,787.50 involved agriculture.
The NDRRMC also said many areas in at least three provinces — Batangas, Cavite and Laguna — remain flooded.
While the death toll remained at 27 and the number of missing at nine, the NDRRMC said Ofel had affected 23,798 families or 109,803 people.
Of these, 466 families or 2,247 people are staying in five evacuation centers.
Also, it said at least 198 houses were destroyed while 2,341 houses were damaged.
Six roads and seven bridges remained impassable as of Tuesday.
State of calamity
The following areas were placed under a state of calamity:
- Oriental Mindoro
- Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay
- Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay
- Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental
