Filipinos visited the tomb of President Benigno Aquino III's parents in Parañaque City to pay their respects on the eve of All Saints' Day.

Many offered prayers for slain former Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino at the Manila Memorial Park, radio dzBB's Nimfa Ravelo reported.

The tomb was "yellow-themed," complete with yellow candles, the report said. Yellow is the Aquinos' political color.

One of the visitors even left a letter for incumbent President Aquino at the tomb, the report said.

Former Sen. Aquino was assassinated in 1983. His death triggered a series of protests against then President Ferdinand Marcos.

The protests led to the 1986 EDSA Revolt that ousted Marcos and installed Aquino's widow Corazon to the presidency.

On the other hand, Mrs. Aquino died from colon cancer on Aug. 1, 2009. Her death generated sympathy for then Senator Aquino, who was egged on to run in the 2010 elections. — ELR, GMA News
