Erap son sore at court ruling vs wedding in Tanay
San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito is sore at the Sandiganbayan Special Division's decision junking his petition to hold his wedding at the detention facility of his father, deposed President Joseph Estrada, in Tanay town in Rizal province. Interviewed Monday, Ejercito described the decision as "unchristian," hinting that the ruling may have been politically-motivated. "Very unchristian...very sad...they used politics as a reason. (My wedding) has nothing to do with politics," Ejercito said. Ejercito, son of Estrada by former actress Guia Gomez, is scheduled to marry Cindy Lotuaco on February 3. The adverse court decision prompted Ejercito to reschedule his wedding sometime in June and for another venue. "It is a very big event in oneâs life.. and itâs sad to see that this administration is really unchristian," he said. In rejecting the request to have the wedding at the former Philippine leader's rest house, Justice Francisco Villaruz said that that Estrada is under arrest in a detention facility in Tanay, not in a social hall, and being such, a wedding ceremony could not be accommodated in the premises. Sandiganbayan presiding Justice Teresita de Castro also said that the court could not allow the wedding because this would pose a security nightmare for the police in charge of security at Estradaâs rest house where he is detained. De Castro instead directed lawyers of Estrada to file a new motion seeking permission to attend Ejercitoâs wedding, the site of the event, the date and time and who would be attending the ceremony. - GMANews.TV
