NDRRMC: 'Quinta' death toll up to 20; damage rises to P225M

The death toll from Tropical Cyclone Quinta (Wukong) went up to 20 on Sunday while estimates on the damage it caused went up to P224.915 million, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In its Sunday update, the NDRRMC also said at least three people were injured while the number of missing people went up to four. Eight deaths were reported in Western Visayas:

Benedicto Castor, 72 Jezel Superio, 2 Nilo Icawalo, 54 Romeo Idorita, 63 Jaymar Egamino, 16 Joel Jimenea, 37 Edwin Farinas, 46 Osot Sabdane, 40  
Recently reported as missing included Samson Sabdane of Dumangas, Iloilo; and Onad Leysa of Calinog, Iloilo.
The NDRRMC said Quinta affected at least 50,291 families or 241,693 people in 557 villages in 60 towns and eight cities in nine provinces. Of these, 4,290 families or 23,337 people are staying in 60 evacuation centers. Damage from Quinta was estimated at P224,915,234.33, including P78,059,000 in infrastructure and P146,856,234.33 in agriculture. — LBG, GMA News
