Philippine National Railways (PNR) trips to Bicol may resume in as early as a "couple of months," depending on the outcome of a track inspection scheduled for early February.

The PNR said this in a post on its Twitter account Wednesday afternoon—three months after a derailing incident in Quezon province forced it to suspend Bicol-bound trips.

"There will be a track inspection to Bicol on the first week of February. If all goes well, the trips to Bicol should resume in a couple of months," it tweeted.

At least nine people were injured in the derailing of the train in Quezon.

The accident occurred at Camda village in Sariaya town, after Tropical Storm “Ofel” caused heavy rains in some parts of Luzon. —KG, GMA News
