Report: Gunfire breaks out in Caloocan jail; inmate hurt
An inmate was injured after sustaining a gunshot wound inside the confines of the Caloocan City jail even as authorities failed to locate firearms at the prisoners' quarters, initial reports from dzBB said Tuesday. The victim was identified as Lorenzo Arellano of Camarin, Caloocan, who was shot at about 11 p.m. Monday. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment of his injury to the left foot. The radio report said the Caloocan police still have no leads as to who the culprit was. Jail officers have yet to submit their statement on the incident. Last month, seven inmates bolted detention at Caloocan police sub-station 1. Amid a heavy downpour last September, five prisoners escaped their cells at the Northern Police District also in Caloocan City. The escapees coated their bodies with butter to slip between the gaps of the metal bars. - GMANews.TV
