PAGASA: Rain over northern Luzon, humid weather over NCR

Rain brought by the diffused tail-end of a cold front may affect parts of Northern Luzon Thursday, while Metro Manila and other parts of the country may have to continue enduring humid weather, state weather forecasters said.

PAGASA forecaster Glaiza Escollar also said their meteorological models indicate there may be no tropical cyclone for this month.

"(Sa Metro Manila), asahan na rin ang pulo-pulong pag-ulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog lalo sa hapon o gabi. Kaya maalinsangan, medyo cloudy ang atmosphere so hindi nakalabas ang init sa ground (In Metro Manila, we can expect isolated rain showers or thunderstorms especially in the afternoon or evening. But it will be humid because the atmosphere is cloudy and the heat in the ground is trapped)," Escollar said in an interview on dzBB radio.

She said Filipinos may have to wait for a tropical cyclone that will enter the Philippine area of responsibility and trigger the rainy season.

However, Escollar said their models at present show there is little chance of a cyclone passing through the Philippine area of responsibility this month.

"Ngayon sa ating analysis ngayong buwan wala tayong nakikitang maaring mabuong tropical cyclone (Presently our analysis shows there may be no cyclone this month)," she said.

Thursday outlook

For Thursday, Metro Manila may expect temperatures of 25 to 35 degrees Celsius, while Tuguegarao City may expect temperatures of 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Angeles and Olongapo Cities may expect temperatures of 25 to 33 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the diffused tail-end of a cold front is affecting Northern Luzon.

"The regions of Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly over the western section," it said.

Light to moderate winds from the southeast to south will prevail over Luzon and coming from the east to southeast over the rest of the country.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, PAGASA said.  — ELR, GMA News
