PUP reminds students: No class suspension on SONA day

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines on Saturday reminded its students there will be no suspension of classes on Monday, when President Benigno Aquino delivers his State of the Nation Address.

In a post on its Twitter account, the PUP indicated regular classes will go on as scheduled.

"ADVISORY: NO SUSPENSION of classes on Monday, 22 July 2013. Please be guided accordingly," it said.

Earlier, the Quezon City government suspended classes up to the high school level in the city's schools for the SONA.

The local government had anticipated heavy traffic near the Batasan Complex area where Aquino will deliver his SONA before a joint session of Congress.

Police also tightened security at Commonwealth Avenue and Batasan Complex for the SONA, in anticipation of protest actions by various groups. — LBG, GMA News
