Supporters line up activities to commemorate Robredo on 1st death anniversary

Supporters and wife of late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo on Saturday boarded a Philippine Navy boat for a fluvial parade around the Masbate coast to commemorate the first death anniversary of the cabinet official.

A Mass aboard the ship was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony, Cesar Apolinario reported on GMA News TV’s “Balitanghali” on Saturday.

Secretary Jesse Robredo and two others died in the plane crash off Masbate on August 18 last year. The cabinet official’s police aide, June Abrazado, was the only survivor of the incident.

Robredo was en route to Naga city from Cebu when one of the plane’s engines faltered.

The Piper Seneca plane sent a distress signal to the Masbate airport but no one was at the tower. The pilot then tried to turnaround to Cebu but to no avail. The plane nosedived and plunge into the water.
