Janet Lim-Napoles, the fugitive businesswoman at the center of the P10-billion pork barrel scam, was one of the 22 sponsors in the 2012 wedding of Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo and former Valenzuela City councilor Shalani Soledad.

What's more interesting, her kumpares include former senator Panfilo Lacson, who is being eyed as an independent investigator who would look into the alleged misuse of pork barrel funds by some lawmakers.

In a report on GMA News's “24 Oras” on Tuesday, Romulo said they met Napoles at an entertainment event, and denied that he had transactions with her involving his pork barrel, or Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

Meanwhile, the report quoted Lacson as saying that he could not remember seeing Napoles during the wedding.

Last August 8, President Aquino confirmed that his office has proposed a new post for Lacson, who has said he did not avail of pork barrel funds in the last 10 years.

A Makati court has ordered the arrest of Napoles and her brother, Reynald Lim, in connection with the alleged illegal detention of Benhur Luy, the whistleblower in the pork barrel scam.

Lacson has earlier said that Napoles was only the “poster person” of a group of independent “operators” in Congress who take portions from the lawmakers' pork barrel funds. He said these “operators” used sexy girls to get projects funded through pork barrel allocations. — Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
