Pork scam witness claims 'connection' between Napoles, Sandiganbayan Justice
A pork-barrel scam whistleblower said there was a “connection” between scam operator Janet Lim-Napoles and Sandiganbayn Presiding Justice Gregory Ong. Whistleblower Marina Sula said in her affidavit that she had seen Ong visit Napoles at her office at the Discovery Center in Ortigas, GMA 7's “24 Oras” reported on Friday. Sula said she saw Ong and Napoles conversing in the office conference room, though the report did state whether Sula was privy to the their conversation. Meanwhile, news website Rappler posted a photograph of Napoles, Senator Jinggoy Estrada and Ong together smiling into the camera. Ong is the chairman of the Sandiganbayan's forth division, which had acquitted Napoles in a Malversation thru Falsification of Public Documents case. The case involved the sale in 1998 of 500 Kevlar helmets to the Philippine Marines. Ong is also currently the acting Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice, pending the appointment of a new presiding justice by President Benigno Aquino III to replace the retired Francisco H. Villaruz Jr. The report did not mention whether Napoles or her lawyers have filed a counter-affidavit to Sula's statement. Also, GMA News was unable to contact Ong, Napoles, nor their representatives for a reaction to the Sula affidavit. — GMA News
