(Updated 9:19 p.m.) This year's Bar examinations ended peacefully Sunday evening, with the Supreme Court congratulating Associate Justice and Bar Chairman Arturo Brion for a "job well done."

In posts on its Twitter account Sunday evening, the high court said Brion ran "such a tight ship" that even the weather cooperated.

"Chair AJ Brion ran such a tight ship that even the weather cooperated. Congrats to him and bar confidant Tina Layusa and her team," it said.

The Manila Police District said the exams were "generally peaceful," and noted no untoward incident during the Sundays the Bar exams were held, radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported Sunday night.

Some of the examinees posted photos on Twitter after the last day of this year's Bar exams, while many posted congratulatory messages to them using the hashtag #BAR2013.

Earlier Sunday, the Supreme Court noted one of the oldest examinees was a 77-year-old who first took the Bar exams in 1960 and tried again in 1961.

Two pregnant examinees, one of them having given birth only earlier this month, were allowed to take the exam in makeshift clinics.

With the exams now over, the tentative date of the oath-taking of those who passed has been set for April 28, 2014 at the Philippine International Convention Center.

Traffic

Meanwhile, traffic near the UST campus is expected to return to normal with the end of the Bar exams.

In the four Sundays of October, a part of España Boulevard in front of UST had been closed to vehicles, causing traffic to become even heavier in the city. — BM, GMA News
