After hours of being grilled at the Senate, alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles was brought back to her detention facility in Laguna province shortly after 5 p.m.

Philippine National Police Director General Alan Purisima said Napoles was safe when she was returned to Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna from the Senate in Pasay City.

But Purisima said there is no time to relax as police now focus their attention on Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

"Napoles back safe in Fort Sto. Domingo as of 5:05 p.m. Now, it's time to prepare & brace for Typhoon Yolanda," he said on his Twitter account.

As of Thursday afternoon, PAGASA said Typhoon Yolanda is accelerating toward Eastern Visayas and is expected to make landfall early Friday.

Earlier Thursday, the PNP provided tight security for Napoles when she was transported from Fort Sto. Domingo to the Senate to attend a hearing on the pork barrel scam.

Napoles has been detained in Laguna on a charge of serious illegal detention.

She is one of several personalities charged with plunder for allegedly setting up bogus non-government organizations to siphon funds from some lawmakers' Priority Development Assistance Fund allocations. — JDS, GMA News
