NDRRMC: 3.4 million people displaced by Yolanda, damage surpasses P24B

At least 3.431 million people have been displaced by super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), even as the damage caused by the cyclone surpassed P24 billion as of Monday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
 
In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC also said some P527.477 million in relief assistance had been extended to those affected.
 
The NDRRMC said that as of Monday morning, Yolanda had displaced 3,431,066 people or 733,728 families. Of these, 53,063 families or 240,365 people are staying in 1,093 evacuation centers.
 
On the other hand, the death toll remained at 5,235, with 25,559 injured and 1,613 still missing.
 
Yolanda, which barrelled through central Philippines on Nov. 8, had affected 2,146,418 families or 9,923,917 people in 11,918 villages in 44 provinces.
 
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said Yolanda caused P24,539,170,406.76 in damage, including P13,182,975,034 in infrastructure and P11,356,195,327.76 in agriculture.
 
In agriculture, the NDRRMC noted a rise in damage to crops at P5.169 billion; fisheries at P2.162 billion; and other agricultural infrastructure at P1.629 billion.
 
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said P527,477,440.62 had been extended to affected families in Southern Luzon, Bicol, Visayas, and Regions 10, 11 and Caraga. —KG, GMA News
