NBI clearance applicant lines finally ease with new online system in place
After several weeks, the line of applicants seeking a clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation finally showed signs of easing on Monday, days after the agency activated its online clearance application system.
The line of applicants was shorter in front of the NBI head clearance facility along United Nations Avenue as of 6:30 a.m., radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported.
It no longer stretched to the corner of UN Avenue and Maria Orosa Street like in past weeks, the report added.
Before the online clearance application was activated last Jan. 24, applicants had to line up all the way to Maria Orosa Street near the Court of Appeals.
Monday's queue numbered about 100 applicants, the dzBB report said.
It added these applicants had been given priority numbers to be processed for the day.
Last Saturday, the Department of Justice said at least 36,000 people availed of the NBI's online clearance application system on its first day Friday.
The DOJ supervises the NBI, which on Friday opened to the public its new online clearance application system.
"Day One of NBI Online Applications hits 36,000," it said on its Twitter account.
However, it did not give further details on the applicants, or how long their applications would be processed.
Under the online system, applicants can access and fill up a form on the NBI website and submit it online. —KG, GMA News
