LTFRB kicks off Oplan Exodus, TRB beefs up personnel for Holy Week
With Holy Week less than a week away, authorities on Monday started cracking down on public utility vehicle operators not complying with safety requirements.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board also reminded transport operators of the "10 Commandments" of its Oplan Exodus, GMA News' Hadji Rieta reported.
LTFRB teams inspected bus terminals in Metro Manila early Monday, and removed the license plate of at least one bus whose dispatcher failed to present proper documents.
Also, the LTFRB reminded public transport operators to observe the following safety rules:
- Observe closed-door policy. (Buses should keep doors closed when moving.)
- Maintain passenger capacity.
- Be alert for suspicious personalities.
- No body parts of passengers should be outside the vehicle.
- Priority seats for persons with disability, senior citizens and children.
- Collect proper fare, give back proper change.
- Be courteous and respectful to passengers.
- Follow traffic rules, be at full stop when passengers get on or off.
- Wear proper attire and maintain proper hygiene.
- Be a responsible driver.
Transport authorities are keeping tabs on public utility vehicle operators as Filipinos are expected to flock to the provinces to spend the Holy Week with their families.
