AMWSLAI confirms membership of Napoles couple

The Air Materiel Wing Savings and Loan Association, Inc., has confirmed that Janet Lim Napoles and her husband Jaime “Jimmy” Napoles were among its members, a report on GMA News' “24 Oras” said on Wednesday.

 

In a statement, AMWSLAI said Jimmy Napoles' service as a captain in the Philippine Navy allowed him membership into the association.

 

The group, however, withheld information as regards the details of the couple's account in the savings and loan association.

 

"Since the current Banking Laws prohibit the disclosure of deposits under Section 6 of RA No. 8367... any information regarding subject accounts can only be examined, inquired or looked into upon the orders of a competent court or upon written permission of the depositor," AMWSLAI's statement read.

 

AMWSLAI said they follow the regulations set out by the Bangko Sentral and the Anti-Money Laundering Council in all its transactions.

 

The AMWSLAI was first reported in 2013 to be holding dummy bank accounts for the Napoleses in 2013. —Rie Takumi/NB, GMA News
