Many Filipino Muslim families marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan on Monday by heading to the mosque in Manila's Quiapo district and to the Quirino Grandstand.

Some families in colorful wear gathered at the Quirino Grandstand for an early celebration of Eidl Fitr, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported.

The families started heading for elevated grounds of Rizal Park before dawn, the report said.

Other Filipino Muslims, meanwhile, gathered at the Golden Mosque in Quiapo to offer prayers for unity and peace, including around the world.

A group of Muslims also called for a stop to the "massacre" in Israel, the report said.

Malacañang has declared Tuesday a regular holiday to mark Eidl Fitr. As such, Tuesday will be a non-working day. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
