Sonia Roco gets trapped in Makati elevator
Sonia Roco, senatorial candidate of the Genuine Opposition (GO), was trapped for nearly an hour inside the elevator of an office building along Ayala Avenue in Makati City. Radio station dzBB reported that loud cheers erupted when Roco and 18 others stepped out of Elevator A of the Manila Bank building. The Genuine Opposition was scheduled to hold a press conference there at Friday the 13th. The radio report said Roco, widow of the late Sen. Raul Roco, stepped on board the elevator at 12:50 p.m. and was able to leave at about 1:40 p.m. One elevator passenger interviewed by dzBB radio said they were just "making light (nagbibiruan)" of their situation while inside the elevator. Sonia is a survivor of July 1990 killer quake. She was inside the Hotel Nevada in Baguio City when the building collapsed. In September last year, Sen. Franklin Drilon and his security aides were trapped inside an elevator of the Senate building in Pasay City. The elevator, reserved only for senators and their staff, stopped between the second and third floors. - GMANews.TV
