The Philippine National Police on Monday announced that some 73 security guards were deployed to man the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Saturday, in line with the earlier pronouncements of Director General Alan Purisima to assign more police officers in actual police duty.

In a separate press release, PNP Director for Operations, Police Director Ricardo Marquez said that the hiring of security guards is “part of the pace to further increasing police presence in the communities by maximizing the deployment of personnel for preventive patrol and visibility operations.”

The guards are from the Right Eight Security Agency Inc.

According to Police Chief Superintendent Albert C Supapo, acting Director of PNP Headquarters Support Service, the security guards were also directed to man other Camp facilities, including the Officer’s Row Gate, the Transformation Oval Parking lot, National Headquarters Lobby, National Headquarters Back Parking,  National Headquarters North Wing, and  National Headquarters South Wing.

Meanwhile four other security guards will serve as roving guards at the camp, Supapo said.

Prior to their assignment, Supapo revealed that the security guards were given a three-day briefing, to orient them on their duties and responsibilities, as well as to familiarize them with the locations around the camp,  and the familiarization of different areas as well as procedures at the gates.

The PNP also briefed them on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of Camp Crame during different alert status.

Guards will be rotated in three eight hour shifts, to ensure that the security inside the camp is continuous day and night. —NB, GMA News
