5 suspected hijackers killed in Valenzuela shootout

Five suspected hijackers were killed in an encounter with police along Maysan road in Valenzuela City, radio dzBB reported Saturday. General Reynaldo Varilla, National Capital Region police chief officer told dzBB that at about 4:25 a.m., Saturday, a group of armed men on board a Tamaraw FX with plate number WFD 127, hijacked a truck carrying plastic resin materials bound for Batangas province. He said the suspected hijackers are identified with the Cabuyog and Brian Diario groups who are also into bank robbery and kidnapping operations in Metro Manila and Rizal province. The police initially identified three of the five men as alias Boy Pasig, allegedly the group's leader, alias Martin, a former member of the Marines and alias Witwit, the group's tactician. The police recovered from the group two grenades, 3 pieces of .38-caliber revolver and 2 pieces of .45- caliber pistol. Rafael Santiago, Northern Police District Investigation and Intelligence chief, told dzBB that they arrested four alleged accomplice of the suspected hijackers, namely Virgilio Alberca, a 25-year-old construction worker and Chinese nationals Wilson Chang, Lino Chiu and Tanka Chiu. - GMANews.TV
