Pinoy students excited to welcome Pope Francis at Villamor

With only hours before the much awaited arrival of Pope Francis in the Philippines on Thursday afternoon, more than a thousand Filipino students who will welcome him at the Villamor Airbase could not hide their excitement.

The students, who will perform before the Pope, are from the different Catholic schools in Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa such as De La Salle-Zobel, Manresa, and Woodrose, according to Rev. Fr. Gilbert Romulo of the Diocese of Parañaque.

The Diocese of Parañaque is in charge of welcoming the Pope Francis in the Philippines.

There will be three performances for Pope Francis, who will be in the country from January 15 to 19, a visit to be highlighted by a trip to Leyte to meet survivors of Typhoon Yolanda.

Young churchgoers of St. Andrew's Cathedral in Parañaque City will perform "Sayaw ng Pagbati" for the Pope. Meanwhile, some will dance to "Piliin ang Pilipinas" and "Kapayapaan."

When asked if they are nervous for their performance later, the kids from St. Andrew's Cathedral just said, "Hindi po, excited po kami." — KBK, GMA News
