The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Wednesday suspended the entire fleet of a taxi company following a hit-and-run incident last Monday involving one of its units.

In an order, the LTFRB preventively suspended for 30 days the 11-unit fleet of Ronjon Transport and Car Rental Service Inc., which runs RMQ Taxi.

A post on the LTFRB's Twitter account Wednesday said the incident occurred between 12 and 12:30 a.m. of Feb. 2 along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City, involving a taxi with plate UVY-582.

Covered by the suspension were taxis with plate numbers:

  • UVY-582
  • UVH-853
  • UVH-589
  • UVT-169
  • UVR-396
  • TYD-251
  • UVM-680
  • TXU-737
  • UWK-820
  • UVT-641
  • UVR-975

The LTFRB said its representative will formally seize the license plates on Feb. 9.

It also said its personnel will inspect the taxis while the drivers will undergo road safety seminars and rug testing.

Also, the operator will have to explain why its franchise should not be suspended, canceled or revoked. A hearing has also been set for Feb. 11.  — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
