Lacuna, Bacani men to guard Lim’s votes

Poll watchers of Manila mayoral candidates Danilo Lacuna and Rodolfo Bacani have joined the camp of front running mayoral bet Alfredo Lim in guarding against any form of cheating in the canvassing of votes in the city. Lacuna and Bacani on Tuesday conceded to Lim, leaving the senator and Ali Atienza battling the Manila mayoral contest. As early as 8 a.m. Wednesday, Lacuna and Bacani watchers were on alert amid reports of a plot to rig the Manila mayoral election results. As this developed, the Liberal Party under Sen. Franklin Drilon has authorized Lim to retrieve all election returns and certificates of votes in behalf of the LP. The authorization was delivered by Bacani’s representative to Lim around 11:30 a.m., while the latter was at the stadium to observing the canvassing. This move was a result of Bacani’s decision to concede defeat to Lim, just like what Lacuna did. Bacani had congratulated Lim for what he said was his impending victory and, just like Lacuna, expressed his willingness to help in whatever way he can to prevent cheating or any attempts in thwarting the people’s will. He also told Lim he already instructed his poll watchers to guard Lim’s votes and help ensure that the tabulations will be accurate and free from any form of cheating. - GMANews.TV
