Namfrel count: 8-2-2 for GO


(Updated 11:29 a.m.) Former Sen. Loren Legarda and House Minority Leader Francis "Chiz" Escudero continued to lead the charge for eight Genuine Opposition (GO) candidates who dominated the Magic 12 of the partial unofficial tally of the National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) on Thursday morning. The remaining four slots were split up evenly by Team Unity (TU) and independent bets. As of 5:37 a.m., Namfrel votes breached the two-million mark for both Legarda and Escudero, who got 2,115,936 and 2,082,908 votes, respectively. Legarda overtook Escudero anew in what has been their seesaw battle for top spot. Former Sen. Gregorio Honasan (Ind.) continued to gain ground while administration bet Joker Arroyo slipped in the rankings. Honasan jumped from tenth to eight place with 1,389,149 votes, trading places with Arroyo who got 1,343,835 votes. Namfrel, which was able to cover 13.28 percent of precincts as of last night, was now able to tabulate the results from 15.95 percent of precincts. The figure makes up 35,835 of 224,748 of all precincts around the country. Senator Panfilo Lacson (GO) came in third at 1,942,396 votes, followed by Senate President Manuel Villar (GO) with 1,745,048 votes. Coming in at fifth and sixth spots were Senator Francis Pangilinan (Ind.) and Tarlac Rep. Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III (GO) with 1,739,306 and 1,695,740 votes, respectively. Senator Edgardo Angara remained the Team Unity bet with the strongest standing with 1,484,162 votes, followed by Honasan, Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (GO) with 1,373,173 votes, and Arroyo. Ex-Navy Lieutenant Senior Grade Antonio Trillanes IV stayed within the winning circle with 1,343,944 votes, while fellow GO candidate Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III also made the cut with 1,131,450 votes. Making up 13th to 20th spot were: Juan Miguel Zubiri (TU) with 1,239,403 votes; Ralph Recto (TU) with 1,224,950 votes; Surigao Rep. Prospero Pichay (TU) with 1,160,792 votes; Michael Defensor (TU) with 1,131,450 votes; Sonia Roco (GO) with 1,006,503 votes; Cesar Montano (TU) with 934,639 votes; John Osmena (GO) with 880,241 votes and Vicente Sotto III (TU) with 846,884 votes. The rest of the standings were as follows: Vicente Magsaysay (TU) with 748,518 votes; Anna Dominique Coseteng (GO) with 619,784 votes; Luis Singson (TU) with 512,842 votes; Teresa Aquino-Oreta (TU) with 490,715 votes; Jamalul Kiram (TU) with 304,052 votes; Ricard Gomez (Ind.) with 306,604 votes; Zosimo Paredes (Ang Kapatiran) with 104,929 votes; Melchor Chavez (KBL) with 103,032 votes; Martin Bautista (Ang Kapatiran) with 101,599 votes; Joselito Cayetano (KBL) with 78,908 votes; Oliver Lozano (KBL) with 61,065 votes; Adrian Sison (Ang Kapatiran) with 54,972 votes; Antonio Estrella (KBL) with 52,102; Victor Wood (KBL) with 50,548 votes; Eduardo Orpilla (KBL) with 27,863 votes; Ruben Enciso (KBL) with 25,758 votes; and Felix Cantal (PGRP) with 21,311 votes. - GMANews.TV
