The Philippine National Police has relieved a senior non-commissioned officer pending the results of an investigation into the alleged misuse of gas allocation coupons

According to a report on "24 Oras" on Monday, the PNP said the coupons, which were on a Facebook post that went viral, were from a police officer with the rank of Senior Police Officer 4 and who is in charge of logistics at the PNP Internal Affairs Service.

SPO4 is the highest non-commissioned rank in the Philippine National Police.

The police officer, who was not named, has been in the service for 30 years, the report said.

The PNP gas allocation coupons are only for official vehicles or for private vehicles that will be used for police operations, PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr. explained.

But the viral Facebook post, which includes a photo of the coupons, was captioned, "Gas supply when in PH.. Thanks Pa." The coupons were traced through the serial numbers printed on them.

"Titignan dito kung paano ba ito ginamit. Ito ba ay ginamit talaga sa consumption noong nag-post? Then, kung ginamit ba, unauthorized ba 'yung paggamit? Then, ano ba 'yung relationship noong gumamit doon sa may-ari noong gas slip?" Cerbo said.

If proven, the police officer can be charged for misusing state property.

"May charges 'yan eh. That is misappropriation of government resources. That's a misconduct. How grave? Subject doon sa appropriation or sa hearing," the PNP spokesperson added. — Trisha Macas/JDS/KG, GMA News
