Teachers are not yet ready for the impending implementation of the K to 12 program next school year, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said.

In a report on GMA's “24 Oras” on Saturday, he said that he went around schools and found that the K to 12 program resulted in teachers unprepared for a supposedly rushed curriculum.

“Hindi handa ang ating mga public schools dito sa K to 12 program. Ganoon din ang mga magulang, mabibigatan sa additional financial burden,” he said.

Trillanes stated last July that he is against the implementation of the K to 12 program since he believes the government should address basic necessities in education like a lack of classrooms and textbooks first.

Meanwhile, the Coalition for K to 12 Suspension, which Trillanes supports, will file a motion before the Supreme Court on Thursday to suspend the program.

The group echoes Trillanes' sentiment that teachers and students are not yet prepared for the full implementation of the K to 12 program. The group is also planning mass protests on May 9.
