Mallari's graduation speech went viral over the social media after she was interrupted and told to take her instead of being allowed to finish her piece.
Mallari's graduation speech went viral over the social media after she was interrupted and told to take her instead of being allowed to finish her piece.
"Halos taun-taon tuwing matatapos ang school year ay mayroon complaints si G. [Ernesto] Mallari [father] at Krisel Mallari. Laging ipinapaliwanag at kinakausap sila ng paaralan tungkol dito," said an official statement of the school signed by its administrators, teachers, and other staff.
Despite her complaints about the grades, Mallari still chose to attend the school's recognition programs and enroll every year, the statement added.
Mallari's father Ernesto also went to the school every day before the graduation, harassing teachers and forcing them to sign a paper, the school said. Mallari's sister Katharine told GMA News Online that the paper was a letter asking the teachers to agree to show the computation of the grades.
But the school explained that Ernesto was asking for the teachers to show how the valedictorian's grades.
"Ipinakita na ng paaralan sa kanyang ama na si G. Ernesto Mallari ang mga grado ng kanyang anak at ang computation nito sa bawat asignatura. Ngunit ang gusto niya raw makuha ang grado ng Valedictorian. Ito ay labag sa policy ng paaralan lalo na kung walang pahintulot ng magulang nito," the statement also explained.
During her graduation last Saturday, Mallari tried to deliver her address but was interrupted before she even reached halfway of her speech.
Katherine explained to GMA News Online that Mallari wrote the speech to express her disappointment with those who allegedly refused to show her how the grades her computed. She said that the teachers also refused to show the computation of grades to Mallari last year.
But the school said that Mallari's speech was inappropriate and unapproved.
Sto. Niño Parochial School also said that Mallari was aware that all speeches must be approved before it would be delivered. It also informed the salutatorian that she would not be allowed to deliver an unapproved speech. —NB, GMA News
