JDV fails to show up at Barasoain independence day rites

House speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. was a no-show at flag-raising ceremonies in Barasoain Church in Bulacan Tuesday. De Venecia was to lead flag-raising ceremonies at Barasoain Church. President Arroyo led the flag-raising at Luneta in Manila, while Vice President Manuel "Noli" de Castro Jr. led the rites at Cavite. Outgoing Sen. Franklin Drilon and San Juan Mayor Jose Victor "JV" Ejercito led the flag-raising in San Juan. At present, De Venecia is facing his most serious challenge for the Speaker's post from Cebu Rep.
