LOOK: Books, balloons, brooms highlight start of Brigada Eskwela nationwide

Books, balloons and brooms on Monday highlighted the start of Brigada Eskwela, the Department of Education's yearly program to prepare schools for the start of classes.
The DepEd posted on its Twitter account the release of blue and white balloons marking the start of Brigada Eskwela.
In Maguindanao, a turnover of books started the Brigada Eskwela at the Parang Central Elementary School.

A photo posted by the NGO Basic Education Assistance for Muslim Mindanao (BEAM) showed DepEd-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Assistant Secretary John Magno handing over books to principal Sambay Aba.
Witnessing the turnover were Parang Mayor Ibrahim Ibay and the school's faculty and staff.
The BEAM, which is funded by the Australian government and implemented by DepEd-ARMM, said the books are part of some P117 million worth of book donations that Australian government-funded BEAM-ARMM program received from the Brother's Brother Foundation and Rotary Club of Makati.
In Siargao Island, students brought brooms to clean the Numancia Central Elementary School.

DepEd Undersecretary Mario Deriquito stressed the Brigada Eskwela is for all schools.
In Romblon, photos posted by GMA News stringer Paul Jaysent Fos showed soldiers helping paint a school's fences and take part in the cleanup activities in Odiongan.
