Vice President Jejomar Binay over the weekend expressed doubt that the administration was being true to President Benigno Aquino III's so-called "Daang Matuwid" brand of governance, GMA News reported on "24 Oras" Monday.

"Ang akala ko eh sa 'daang matuwid' ay magiging malinis ang pulitika, walang paninira, walang kasinungalingan, at magpi-prisenta lamang kung sino ka at ano ang pinapangarap mo para sa bayan," Binay said.

To this, Presidential spokesman Sec. Edwin Lacierda just said, "VP Binay is entitled to his opinion."

Last week, Aquino said he is not keen on endorsing Binay for 2016 after the vice president said he hopes the president will consider him as his presidential bet.

"Hinahanap ba niya ang suporta ko? 2010, sa ibang grupo siya tumakbo, 2013, nanguna siya ng ibang grupo. Parang medyo ang layo ng kurba," he said.

Aquino's uncle, former Tarlac Rep. Jose "Peping" Cojuangco gave Binay his full support.

"Si Binay has been with me since 1978. Kaya 'yan si Binay original na Laban 'yan, itong mga matatapang na talagang lumaban sa Martial Law," he said.

Cojuanco is the Secretary-General of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

But PDP-Laban president Sen. Kiko Pimentel III said that the party will not bet on Binay in 2016.

"If ever hindi tumakbo is Davao City Mayor (Rodrigo) Duterte, the party will look for other candidates to endorse but definitely Vice President Binay will not be on that list," Pimentel said.

The family of former President and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has not yet decided who to endorse in 2016. The Estradas supported Binay and the opposition coalition in the last two elections.

But Sen. JV Ejercito has already promised support for Sen. Grace Poe.

Sen. Jinggoy Estrada who is currently detained for plunder charges said he is open to team up with Binay. He, however, remains detained on plunder charges.

"Why not? Asikasuhin ko muna itong kaso ko dapat makapagpiyansa muna ako kung sakali," Jinggoy Estrada said.

Joseph Estrada previously said that he wouldn't be Binay's running mate in 2016.

Binay was Joseph Estrada's vice presidential candidate in 2010.

Meanwhile, former President and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has given a "marching order" to Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats members to back Binay's presidential bid. -Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
