Gloria Arroyo's wealth grew by P9.7M in one year

In a span of one year, the wealth of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ballooned by P9.7 million, despite her detention at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

A check of House members’ 2014 Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) summaries showed Arroyo ranking as among the Top 20 wealthiest lawmakers with a net worth of P146.5 million. Her assets, which amounted to P296.5 million, were composed of real properties worth P78.8 million and personal properties worth P217.7 million.

Her total liabilities as of December last year amounted to P150 million.

In 2013, Arroyo listed a net worth of P136.8 million in her SALN. Her total assets, whose value reached P286.6 million, were composed of real properties worth P75.4 million and personal properties worth P211.4 million.

Her liabilities during 2013 were the same as 2014.

Arroyo has been under hospital detention since 2012, pending the resolution of her plunder case at the Sandiganbayan over her alleged misuse of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office's (PCSO) intelligence funds.

Her camp had confirmed that she will run for re-election next year for a third and final term in Congress. — DVM, GMA News
