Coast Guard: 508 passengers stranded due to TS Egay

At least 508 passengers were stranded in ports in Luzon and Visayas as of early Monday due to bad weather conditions brought by Tropical Storm Egay (Linfa), the Philippine Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard said that as of 4 a.m. Monday, 58 vessels and 31 motor bancas were also stranded in various ports.
It said a breakdown of those stranded is as follows:
Coast Guard District Central Visayas:
- Cebu: 231 passengers, 26 vessels, 12 motor bancas
- Tagbilaran: 110 passengers, 13 vessels, 6 motor bancas
- Dumaguete: 2 passengers
Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon:
- Aparri: 37 passengers, 1 vessel, 10 motor bancas
Coast Guard District Bicol:
- Sorsogon: 54 passengers, 1 vessel
- Camarines Sur: 20 passengers
- Masbate: 1 motor banca
Coast Guard District Palawan:
- Puerto Princesa: 20 passengers, 9 vessels
- Coron: 21 passengers, 2 vessels
- El Nido: 13 passengers, 1 vessel
Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog Luzon:
- Batangas: 3 vessels, 2 motor bancas
- Romblon: 2 vessels
Tropical Storm Egay remained almost stationary over the Luzon Sea Monday morning, with PAGASA now projecting the storm exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility Thursday evening.
At 4 a.m., Egay was 135 kms southwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, moving north at 7 kph.
The storm had maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center, with gusts of up to 100 kph. Rainfall within Egay's 400 km diameter was from moderate to heavy. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
