Amid family feud, Iglesia ni Cristo expels Eduardo Manalo’s mother, siblings

(UPDATED 6:45 p.m.) The Iglesia ni Cristo on Thursday expelled the mother and siblings of its executive minister Eduardo Manalo for allegedly sowing disharmony among its members.

The announcement came after a video of Cristina "Tenny" Manalo, widow of Eraño "Erdy" Manalo who led INC for 46 years after founder Felix Manalo, and Felix Nathaniel "Angel" Manalo began circulating on social media Wednesday night.

The one-minute 54-second video shows Angel Manalo asking the public for help, saying his life is in danger.

Aside from Tenny and Angel, the church also expelled Marco Eraño Villanueva Manalo and Lolita Manalo Hemedez, younger siblings of Eduardo and Angel.

Santiago said the decision will be announced in church services starting Thursday.

He added that the video was part of a ploy by the two to gather supporters.

Santiago also denied reports that Iglesia ni Cristo ministers have been abducted amid the power struggle within the 100-year-old organization. "Wala pong katotohanan. Hindi po totoo iyon," he said.

Mother's plea

In the video, Tenny had asked his son to speak with her.

Eduardo is the eldest son of Erdy and Tenny.

The church was founded by Felix Manalo in 1914, and was succeeded by Erdy Manalo, who served as Executive Minister for 46 years.

Eduardo Manalo succeeded his father after his death in 2009.

Show of support

Meanwhile, several supporters of Angel and Tenny have gathered outside the Manalo compound on Wednesday afternoon in Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City.

The group, made up of around ten persons, said they went to the site area to support for "Ka Angel" and "Ka Tenny" after they the mother and son appealed for help from INC members as they allegedly faced grave danger.

Former INC minister Roel Rosal, who went to the area with his loved ones Shirley Rose and Michael Rosal, said they believe Angel and Tenny were inside the area.

One of the supporters became emotional when one of the persons inside the house posted on the window a sign that read, "Where are the missing ministers?"
