PNP investigating alleged abduction of Iglesia ministers
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is validating reports that some of Iglesia ni Cristo's ministers have been abducted, PNP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor said, as he gave the assurance that the police force was "ready to respond" to the developing situation.
"Ang PNP will provide assistance to everybody who needs it, especially in this kind of situations and crimes affecting especially yung personal na problems ng bawat isa sa atin. We will be ready to respond to these kinds of problems," Mayor said.
"Then again, there are procedures that has to be taken, especially sa ganyang ka-sensitive na matters, the aggrieved party should be the one to report the matter to the police. Nevertheless, ito ay binigyan na natin ng attention, ang QCPD at AKG (Anti-Kidnapping Group) and as of now vine-verify nila situation," he added.
Mayor said the authorities would have to evaluate the situation for the protection of all those concerned.
In a video that went online on Wednesday night, Cristina "Tenny" Manalo and Felix Nathaniel "Angel" Manalo asked for help and claimed their lives are in danger. Tenny is Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo's mother and Angel is his younger brother.
They were both expelled from the church on Thursday for allegedly sowing disharmony among its members.
Also on Thusday, people inside the Manalo residence in Tandang Sora, Quezon City flashed messages that read: "Where are the missing ministers?"
On the part of the PNP, Mayor said these were all mere allegations until verified.
"We always study and evaluate in a particular situation, we do not move by haste. We always do the checking or validation of the situation for the protection of everyone," he said. -Kathrina Charmaine Alvarez/NB, GMA News
