Former ‘Pasugo’ editor alleges corruption inside Iglesia ni Cristo
The former editor of the official publication of the Iglesia ni Cristo revealed some ways of how corruption allegedly thrives inside the church.
Former "Pasugo" editor Isaias Samson Jr., who claimed he was illegally detained by the Iglesia's Sanggunian, said in a report on GMA News TV's "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho" on Thursday that there are anomalies involving Iglesia's socio-civic program "Lingap sa Mamamayan."
"Tungkol sa pinamamahagi sa Lingap, halimbawa bigas, kahit na makukuha lang ang isang sakong bigas ng P1,700 o P1,750, eh magugulat ka ang ibinayad pala ay P1,900 o P1,950," he said.
GMA News also spoke with Ruel Rosal, who claimed he was an Iglesia member who was expelled from the group recently.
He said that corruption brought discord among the members of Iglesia's founding family, the Manalo clan. With this, he is calling on the church's executive minister Eduardo Manalo to come out and fix the issue.
"Ang pakiusap namin sana lumabas siya at ayusin niya pati pamilya niya kasi nagkakagalit na sila," he said.
On Wednesday night, a video of the brother and mother of Iglesia's executive minister asking for help circulated online.
Felix Nathaniel "Angel" Manalo and Cristina "Tenny" Manalo said they are under threat but they did not elaborate why. Tenny then revealed that some ministers of the Iglesia were abducted, and asked son Eduardo to talk to her.
On Thursday, Iglesia's general evangelist Bienvenido Santiago announced the expulsion of Angel and Tenny from the church.
"Hindi po makakapayag ang kapatid na Eduardo Manalo ang kasalukuyang tagapamahalang pangkalahatan na ang Iglesia ay guluhin ng sinumang tao," he said in a press briefing.
Santiago denied all the allegations of Angel and Tenny. — Trisha Macas/JDS, GMA News
