The driver of the Valisno Express bus that figured in an accident that killed four passengers on Wednesday morning has surrendered to the police, a report from GMA's “24 Oras” said.

The report said bus driver George Pacis was apprehended by authorities in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan through the help of the bus company's staff.

“Sa takot niya, as in takot na takot siya, gusto niya makita iyong mga anak muna. Pagkatapos noon ay susuko siya ng kusa sa amin,” Valisno Express Liner Executive Secretary Vivian Martinez said.

Martinez said Pacis wanted to immediately surrender but was frightened at how the public would react. Pacis fled after the incident.

“Natakot siya dahil baka siya kuyugin sa lugar na iyon. So within a period of before 24 hours isu-surrender na namin siya doon,” she added.

Due to the incident, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board slapped a 30-day preventive suspension on the entire fleet of Valisno Express comprised of 62 buses.

The bus company will also undergo various roadworthiness inspections to be conducted by the Land Transportation Office. -Andrei Medina/NB, GMA News
