Trillanes to link VP Binay to another scam as Senate subcommittee probe continues
Sen. Antonio Trillanes on Tuesday said he would bare next week a new multi-billion peso dummy-related scam, once again involving Vice President Jejomar Binay.
In an interview with reporters at the Department of Justice, Trillanes said there would be another Senate blue ribbon inquiry on the new allegations, on top of the string of other corruption claims earlier probed by the Senate panel chaired by Sen. Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III for the past year.
Trillanes was at the DOJ to file a rejoinder in connection with a libel complaint filed against him by Binay's son, suspended Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay Jr.
"I still maintain na harassment case ang finile na ito (ni Junjun Binay). It is meant to distract me dito sa aking pag-iimbestiga sa kanya. Pero hindi ako madi-distract sabi ko nga," he said.
"Lalo akong ginaganahan at next week magkakaroon kami ng hearing ulit tungkol kay VP Binay," added Trillanes.
GMA News Online is trying to get a reaction from the Binay camp as of posting time.
While refusing to elaborate, the lawmaker said the "new" controversy involved billions of pesos.
"Next week, ipapakita natin kung gaano ka-kurakot si VP Binay... billions of peso na mga pera na ninakaw at tinago through dummies," said Trillanes. —NB, GMA News
